Permission

On the one year anniversary of my Instagram page, I shared a few words about permission:

“I cannot believe it has already been one year since this page was born!

One year ago today, I decided to share my ‘behind the scenes.’ I felt compelled to dedicate serious time to pursue a passion that had been on the backburner for many years. While most of my time was (and is) taken up by life as a resident physician, I told myself that I could make time for creativity. My only hope was for “art to be a more consistent presence in my life.”

Fast forward one year and here we are.

I have grown more as an artist than I have in a very long time. The theme that has weaved its way through this entire year is: permission. I have given myself permission to schedule time for myself, to explore subjects, to try new media, to copy masters, to draw from imagination, to sketch in public, to take a break, to be quick, to take my time, to get lost in the flow state… to be free.

Thank you all for supporting and encouraging this small little space. It means so much that many of you reach out to me with curiosity and joy. Love it every time.

And yes, I am double posting again, because I give myself permission to be excited and break some rules🥹

Happy one year.”
